Police Investigate Two Separate Incidents in North Miami and North Miami Beach
NORTH MIAMI BEACH, October 14, 2024 — Police in North Miami and North Miami Beach are investigating two incidents that occurred about a mile apart early Monday morning. The authorities have not yet confirmed if the cases are connected, though a shooting was reported in North Miami Beach, according to CBS News Miami.
At the scene in North Miami Beach, near 153rd Street and 14th Avenue, a yellow house was found with a dozen bullet holes in its walls and windows. The shooting reportedly occurred around 4:30 a.m. Mercedes Quintero, a neighbor, described waking up to a noise that sounded like fireworks. "I was deeply asleep, and I just heard a sound like fireworks," she said.
The homeowner, who lives there with his family and wishes to remain anonymous, expressed relief that no one was injured in the shooting. "I'm just happy that nobody got hurt," he said. "I don’t know what could have caused this. Sometimes, when you're trying to prosper, people hate, and things like this happen." He mentioned having no idea who might have fired the shots and noted that this was not the first time gunfire had occurred in the area.
While the investigation is ongoing, police have not located any victims related to the shooting in North Miami Beach.
Meanwhile, in North Miami, the 1400 block of NW 136th Street near Claude Pepper Park was cordoned off with crime scene tape. Police cruisers, evidence markers, and a white vehicle with a concealed license plate were seen at the scene. At one point, the vehicle’s doors were open, and officers appeared to be examining it as part of the investigation.
Authorities have not disclosed any further details about the nature of the incident in North Miami, and it remains unclear if there is any link between the two investigations.
